A Little About Me...
My name is Bethany Anderson. I have been an I.T. generalists for over 25 years with experience in nearly all areas of an I.T. department. From networks, software systems, and end-users, I've worked with so many systems, applications, and diverse people. I enjoy the challenge of I.T. and the fact that no one day is the same.
As with my professional skills, I have a variety of skills and enjoyments. I am a Christian, working in many areas of the Church and striving to reflect Jesus in my life, a wife to my wonderful husband Matthew, and mother of two children. I love the beauty of nature, gardening, cooking, and reading.
Many of my extended family have settled in the Johnson City area of Tennessee. My husband & I had been wishing to purchase land in order to homestead. We decided that moving to East TN would be better in the long run, being closer to more family. We were able to purchase a 15 acre farm in 2022 to follow the homestead dream. We have already raised chickens, ducks, turkeys, rabbits, sheep, and a garden to begin the journey to self-sufficiency.
When we moved, we began homeschooling our two children instead of moving them multiple schools in one year. We loved the freedom of homeschooling and the ability it gave us to meet the specific educational needs of each of our children, now in our fifth year. It has been a blessing to watch our kids grow in so many new ways over these years.
"I know that there is nothing better for men than to be happy and do good while they live. That everyone may eat and drink and find satisfaction in all his toil - this is the gift of God." Ecclesiastes 3:12-13 NIV, 1984
With being homesteaders and home schoolers, it has highlighted the importance needing a healthier work-life balance. This perspective has lead to looking for a new employment opportunity that will utilize my current I.T. skills and background, with opportunities to continue to grow, learn, and develop that will provide a good work-life balance in a hybrid environment (or full-time remote). I am a hard worker, focused, detail oriented, and work strive for excellence in each task!
